Lisbon Is More Then Work

We at the Lisbon Clinical Marathon are passionate about psychoanalysis but also about our beautiful, vibrant and multicultural city. Lisbon successfully melts together centuries of old tradition with the latest modern tendencies in culture, gastronomy and architecture. There are those places where the tourists go. We will not talk about them. The list here is about what we love in Lisbon. We will complete the list as we the go, so come back every now and then for new tips.

We just finished lunch at the Cellar of Ties. The beef and the octopus were fabulous. We love this noisy, smoky place for it's old school Portuguese cuisine and frantic waiters. If you would like to try high quality traditional Portuguese food in a place filled with locals for a reasonable price, this is a good place to go.

Cellar of Ties (Adega das Gravatas), Travessa do Pregoeiro, 16, Carnide, Lisboa, Tel. (+351) 21 7143622, Closes at 23h.

The Marathon has to do with a certain disquiet. A disquiet the many time took me to the kaleidoscopic Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa,

“My soul is impatient with itself, as with a bothersome child; its restlessness keeps growing and is forever the same. Everything interests me, but nothing holds me. I attend to everything, dreaming all the while. I'm two, and both keep their distance — Siamese twins that aren't attached.”

Casa Fernando Pessoa is a house of literature in the city of Lisbon. It is a space that is dedicated to the dissemination of Pessoa’s work and the writer’s biography, as well as a meeting point motivated by programmes relating to books and literature. It is at Campo de Ourique, a quite but dynamic residential neighborhood. Arguably one of the best places to live in Lisbon. You have plenty of places to relax and enjoy a glass of vine and the sun after your visit.
